Ms. Joan Hughes Kennedy, age 79, of Sandersville, died Monday, February 24, 2020 at the Baldwin County Hospital following an extended illness. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 28th at 2:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville. Reverend Roy Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Ms. Kennedy was born and reared in Macon, the daughter of the late Edward Hughes and the late Wynona Taylor Hughes. She was a home maker and formerly employed by the Washington County Regional Medical Center in the Hospital Cafeteria. She loved painting and gardening and was a regular participant at the Washington County Senior Center.
Survivors include her children, Brad Kennedy and Keith Kennedy and his wife Kim all of Sandersville, Cindy Collins and her husband Al of Macon and Devin Kennedy and his wife Judy of Savannah; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
