Washington County Public Schools Pre-Kindergarten Registration is Saturday

school-news

Washington County Public Schools’ Pre-Kindergarten registration will take place Saturday, April 25 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Ridge Road Primary School located at 285 Ridge Road in Sandersville.

Due to the impact of COVID-19, mandatory school closures, and restrictions of large group gatherings ordered by Governor Kemp, Washington County Public Schools revised the Pre-K registration process. This revised method is precautionary and is to ensure safety.

Parents wishing to register their child for the 2020-2021 Program will need to follow this revised process.

On Saturday, April 25, 2020, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 1p.m., parents will enter the Ridge Road Primary entrance as though they were dropping their child off for school and follow the flow of traffic directed by the registration staff on duty.

All applications will be given to parent as they prepare to exit the school grounds. Each application packet is numbered and contains the following: a Pre-K application, a return envelope for you to self-address, and a Pre-K Non-Parental AFFIDAVIT of residence form.

No individuals will park or exit their vehicles.

Washington County Public Schools provided the following instructions to complete the application process. Parents/guardians must complete application pages 1-3, and then put their name and mailing address on the provided envelope; this envelope will be used to return the original documentation. Once completing the necessary documentation, place the required documentation, application, and self-addressed envelope back in the application packet and seal it. Parents/guardians will then return the sealed application packet to the Washington County Board of Education office’s drop-box labeled “Pre-K Complete Applications” located at 501 Industrial Drive in Sandersville. The applications must be completed and returned by the date posted on the application packet. All applications must be returned to the Board of Education drop-box on Tuesday, April 28 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Washington County Public Schools notes that no child will be registered for the Pre-Kindergarten program without the following:

  • Proof of Residence such as a lease or a utility bill listing the residence as the service address. No phone bills or driver’s license
  • Proof of Child’s Age including an Original/certified birth certificate, passport, green card, pink card, or Federal I-94 card and hospital record of live birth

A lottery drawing process will take place this year. Parents/guardians must make sure to provide all of the required documentation. Only completed applications will be entered into the drawing. All applications are numbered, and each number will be entered into the lottery drawing selection process.

Once the applications are placed in the Board of Education’s Drop-off box, the returned application packet will be carefully disinfected prior to being processed by registration staff workers.
