DORIS FLEMMING

Ms. Doris W. Flemming departed this life on Friday, May 22, 2020 at the Select Specialty Hospital. Graveside services were held on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Clarence Moore officiating.

She was born on October 4, 1941 to the parentage of the late Mr. Charlie B. Flemming, Sr. and Mrs. Claudia Brown Flemming. She grew up in Washington County and devoted her life to help raise her younger sisters and brothers. She was educated in the Public School system of Washington County. At an early age, Doris joined in religious ceremonies at Mt. Olive Baptist Church and later attended Good Sheppard Baptist Church when she moved to Augusta in 1970.

When her health failed and she was no longer able to continue to worship at Good Sheppard; the deacons would come to her home to have communion and prayer services with her each month. Before moving to Augusta, she worked in dietary at Memorial Hospital of Washington County. Once in Augusta, she was employed by several companies. At Belks Department Store, she worked as a cashier, she also worked in dietary at a nursing home and as a supervisor at the Veteran Administration Hospital until her health failed. Doris enjoyed working, shopping, watching her favorite TV shows and reading her Bible. She enjoyed calling her family to “check in, due to her special love for them. Her family would like to note that she was able to spend quality moments with her mother and family in her fleeting moments on Earth.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. James Casey; and brother, Mr. Charlie B. Flemming, Jr.

Ms. Flemming leaves to cherish and celebrate her memories one stepdaughter, Mrs. Gwendolyn Cook; mother, Mrs. Claudia Flemming; four sisters, Ms. Agnes Flemming, Ms. Martha Flemming, Ms. Marilyn Engram, Ms. Carolyn Flemming Billings; two brothers, Mr. Kenneth Flemming, Mr. Randy (Shirley) Flemming; devoted nephew, Mr. Trevin (Alexis) Engram; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Charlene Rouse; three nephews, six nieces, five grand nieces, eight grand nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
