Mr. John Franklin Barker, Jr., age 68, of Sandersville, died at his residence on Thursday, July 16, 2020 following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 19 at May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville. Burial will be private. Reverend Andy Yates will officiate.
Mr. Barker was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the son of the late John Franklin Barker, Sr., and the late Betty Grace Summerlin Barker. He was a licensed surveyor and former owner of Barker and Associates Surveyors. He was a member of Sandersville United Methodist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Terri Avant Barker of Sandersville; daughter, Jessica Barker Craft of Greenville, SC; step son, Jess Williams and his wife Leslie of Sandersville; step daughter, Leanne McGowan and her husband Chris; sister, Elizabeth Barker Farrior of Tennille; brothers, Robert Barker and his wife Jo of Augusta, Steve Barker and his wife Betty of Sandersville and Dan Barker and his wife Kathy of Sandersville; grandchildren, Liam Craft, Gambill Williams, Maggie Williams, Abe Williams, Charles Hancock, Tucker Hancock, Analee McGowan, Lillie McGowan and Henry McGowan.
The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Sunday.
