
Mrs. Yolanda Shari Coar, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020. Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Bishop Gregory Fuller officiating. Interment followed in Westover Memorial Park.
She was born in Augusta and raised in Washington County, GA. She received her BS in Kinesiology from Valdosta State University. She then went on to obtain her ADN from Aiken Tech followed by her BSN from Chamberlin University. Yolanda was currently working on her masters in nursing. Passionate about helping others, she was employed as a registered nurse and manager at Augusta University Health Center. She was a member of both Delta Sigma Theta and Chi Eta Phi, a nursing sorority.
Mrs. Coar is survived by her husband: Mr. Matthew Coar; two sons: Mr. Evan Coar, Mr. Maddox Coar; devoted godson: Mr. LJ Hobbs; mother: Mrs. Darlene (David) Gordy; father: Mr. Melvin “Pete” James; sisters: Ms. Dayna Gordy, Ms. Melrite Peacock, Ms. Keanya Peacock, Mrs. Deborah (James) Andrews, Mrs. Davina (Lamont) Samuel, Ms. Denise Gordy; brother: Mr. Joshua (Amber) Gordy; grandmother: Ms. Annie Robinson “Gran”; Ms. Eloise (Granny) Gordy; mother-in-law: Mrs. Mary Aillen Coar (Eddie) Jackson; father-in-law: Mr. Micah (Prakob) Brown; brother-in-law: Mr. Micah (Kelly) Brown II; sisters-in-law: Ms. April Jackson, Ms. Ashlynn Jackson; grandmother-in-law: Ms. Frances Jackson; several other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Yolanda Coar was a graduate of the Washington County High School Class of 1998. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
