Andrew “Andy” Lee Brantley, age 73, of Oconee, departed this life to begin a new life on August 18, 2020.  A family only funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 27th at May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel.  The public is invited to attend the graveside committal service also on Thursday, 12 noon at Bay Springs Cemetery in Oconee.  Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate. Washington County Fire Fighters will stand as honorary pallbearers at the graveside.

Andy was a Washington County native, the son of the late Lee Willie Brantley and the late Mary Etta Johnson.  He worked for Riner Hardware while in High School and for Englehard, Thiele and Taylor Construction all prior to going into business for himself, Custom Welding and Repair Service.  Andy was a diesel mechanic by trade as well as a welder and a heavy equipment operator.  He was a member of Oconee Church of God, a former Sunday school teacher as well as church clerk.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter. The Oconee Fire Department was his passion where he served as chief until he became disabled.  Andy also served as president of the Washington County Fire Fighters Association.  He loved people and never met a stranger, always working and loving what he did.  In addition to his parents, Andy is also predeceased by his brother, Wade Calvin Brantley and his son-in-law, Troy Flurry.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Linda Hannah Brantley; daughter, Geri Brantley both of Oconee; nieces, Lisa Brown and Darla Hannigan; and best friend, Allen Veal.

The public may pay their respects on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in numbers of ten or less at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
