Washington County Regional Medical Center is encouraging the public to remember the ‘three Ws’ – wash your hands, watch your distance, and wear a mask in order to stop the spread of COVID-19.

“Things are going very, very well at the hospital,” said WCRMC’s Chief Nursing and Compliance Officer Heidi Coffee, while speaking with WACO 100 on Monday, August 31. She noted that the hospital continues to provide inpatient and outpatient services.

Coffee explained that Washington County Regional Medical Center’s Extended Care Facility remains ‘COVID-19 free.’

“We thank the staff at ECF and the hospital for keeping our patients very safe,” said Coffee.

As of August 31, Washington County Regional Medical Center had four COVID-19 patients in the hospital’s inpatient unit. Coffee remarked that this is down from last week; she commended the Washington County community for working together to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Since the pandemic began, Washington County has seen a total of 614 confirmed COVID-19 cases, and four deaths.

As previously reported by WACO 100, most of those cases have recovered.

Coffee stated that Washington County Regional Medical Center has conducted 987 tests.

“We continue to do everything we can to keep our patients and staff safe at the hospital,” said Coffee. She added, “We have special procedures when we have suspected cases or when we have patients who’ve tested positive come to the hospital.”

Coffee explained that the hospital staff continuously disinfects the facility. A separate isolation wing is established at the hospital for COVID-19 patients.

“Our goal is to keep this community safe,” said Coffee.
