On Thursday, August 27, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies attended state mandated training at Oconne Fall Line Technical College in Sandersville.
The training, which was provided by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) and led by GBI Special Agent John Durden, included courses on the following: use of deadly force, de-escalation tactics for law enforcement, and health and wellness.
All law enforcement officers are required to attend annual training to maintain state certifications.
“We are very thankful for the GBI and Special Agent John Durden for making this training possible,” said Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran. “We would also like to thank the Oconee Fall Line Technical College and staff for allowing us to use the facility, although we are most grateful to our many community and state partnerships that makes obtaining our mission easier to achieve.”
