Washington County Commissioners commended the inmate work detail for a job well done throughout the County during the Commissioners’ Tuesday, September 8 workshop.

As previously reported by WACO 100, Washington County Commissioners approved an agreement with Jefferson County during a Tuesday, July 28 called meeting. This agreement between Washington County and Jefferson County allows Washington County to utilize State inmates for public works projects in the County.

“We’re still getting things adjusted, but they’re doing a good job,” said Public Works Supervisor Gary Waller. He added, “They’ve cleaned up a good bit of trash around the community.”

Chairman Horace Daniel commented during the September 8 workshop that he recently stopped at one of the locations where the inmate work detail was working.

“They were working; they were all nice,” said Chairman Daniel. He went on to say that talked with several of the people working. “I told them we appreciated the job they were doing.”

Chairman Daniel concluded by saying that this agreement with Jefferson County has helped Washington County.

“This has really made a difference,” said Chairman Daniel.
