On Tuesday, October 6, Washington County Public Schools informed Golden Hawk football fans that the next scheduled football game will be moved from Friday, October 9 to Thursday, October 8.

The scheduled time of kickoff remains at 7:30 P.M.

Washington County High School’s Safety Team opted to reschedule the upcoming contest due to the threat of inclement weather in the area on Friday evening.

The Washington County Golden Hawks are set to open their GHSA AA Region 3 schedule with Lamar County at the House of Pain. Washington County High School will be celebrating Homecoming festivities at halftime of the game now held on Thursday.

The Golden Hawks hold a season record of 2-2 with consecutive wins at Swainsboro and Evans in the past two weeks. Thursday night’s game with Lamar County will be the initial time that the schools face off on the gridiron.

Radio Station WACO 100 will be on-site to broadcast the audio version of the Homecoming game over 99.9 FM. WACO 100 will also offer a video stream on waco100fm.com for a $10 fee. Washington County Public Schools receive a portion of the proceeds.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our WACO supporters,” said Washington County Public Schools when announcing the change of date for this week’s football game. “However, the safety of our players, coaches, and fans is our top priority.”
