On Tuesday, October 27, Deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Agents with the U.S. Marshal Service, assisted by Sandersville Police Department, identified a wanted subject in a vehicle traveling on North Harris Street in Sandersville.
According to Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran, during the traffic stop, the wanted subject, identified as Derrian Woods, jumped from the vehicle and fled on foot.
“Law Enforcement surrounded the area and were able to apprehend Woods on North Harris Street at Washington Avenue,” said Washington County Sheriff Cochran.
The driver of the vehicle in which Woods was riding, fled the scene, and was located on Peachtree Drive in Sandersville. The driver, identified as Brenaje Dunn, was apprehended and the vehicle was towed.

“In this incident, Woods discharged a firearm in the direction of an individual after a confrontation took place inside the store,” said Sheriff Cochran.
Following Tuesday’s arrest and a follow up investigation, a loaded firearm suspected of being involved in the matter was located at the residence on Peachtree Drive.
