Washington County Public Works Supervisor Gary Waller thanked the Washington County Commissioners and the public for their patience and support concerning the September flooding issues at the Tuesday, November 10 Commissioners’ workshop.

“Our guys have really worked hard; they’ve hauled a bunch of dirt,” said Public Works Supervisor Waller when discussing the numerous road repairs that had to be addressed following the flooding.

According to Waller, there are six roads remaining on the repair list, including: Freetown Road, Riddleville-Mt. Moriah Road, McCoy Pond Road, Rachels Road, West Indian Hill Road, and Bethesda Road.

“We’ve got all these roads passable, but we’ll still have to go back and do some pipe work,” explained Waller.

Chairman Horace Daniel thanked Public Works Supervisor Waller, as well as the Washington County Road Department employees for their hard work.

“The Commissioners appreciate all you’ve done during all of this,” said Chairman Daniel.

In addition, Chairman Daniel thanked the law enforcement for their assistance with the road closures.

“It’s worked out so good,” said Chairman Daniel. “You may hear someone ask why you didn’t get their road opened first, but 99 percent of the people in Washington County have been mighty nice about this.”

Public Works Supervisor Waller went on to commend the Road Department staff.

“They’ve all done a great job,” said Public Works Supervisor Waller.

In other news, Washington County Commissioners will hear from Frankie Dixon concerning a law enforcement issue during the Thursday, November 12 meeting.

Commissioners will also consider reappointments to the Library Board, as well as an appointment to the Hospital Authority.

The Washington County Commissioners’ meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 12 at 9 a.m.
