Mrs. Kaye Odom McClendon, age 69, of Sandersville, died Monday, November 16, 2020 at Washington County Regional Medical Center. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, November 18th at 2:00 p.m. in the May and Smith Funeral Home chapel following social distancing practices. Reverend Jason McClendon and Reverend Paul Harris will officiate. The family will receive friends following the memorial service.

Mrs. McClendon was born in Macon, the daughter of the late Dee Odom and the late Lucy Smith Odom. She was reared in Sparta and graduated from Sparta High School. She was a former longtime resident of both Madison and Monticello where she and her late husband Rev. Donald David McClendon raised their family and she worked as a nurse at Jasper Memorial Hospital. Mrs. McClendon moved to Sandersville to be near family and worked for the Salvation Army, a job she considered a ministry. She attended New Bethel Baptist Church, First Baptist Church and Deepstep United Methodist Church. Her greatest passions were caring for her boys and sharing her faith, constantly claiming, “God is Good All the Time.” In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. McClendon is also predeceased by her brother, Danny Odom.

Survivors are her sons, Clayton McClendon of Warner Robins, Brian McClendon and her wife Farrah of Gray, and Jason McClendon and his wife Kelly of Lyons; grandchildren, Riley McClendon, Nellie Grace McClendon, Jasmine McClendon, Kaylee McClendon, Serenity McClendon and Trenton McClendon; siblings, Faye Lewis of Sandersville, Sandra Thompson and her husband Van of Tennille, and Judy Harris and her husband Paul; sister-in-law, Louise Arthur of Macon; brother-in-law, Michael McClendon of Greensboro; and special friends, Lanier Moss and Rosa Smith.
