Mark Allen, age 63, of Sandersville, Georgia unexpectedly passed away with his wife Susan by his side following a brief illness. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 30, 2021 in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Social distancing and the wearing of masks are encouraged by the family. Mark’s brother, Ricky Allen, will officiate.

Mark was the third son of the late Alvin and Sara Allen, of Macon, who preceded him in death in 2010 and 2014, respectively. Mark graduated from the Southwest High School in Macon, Georgia in 1975, where he received awards for academic excellence, as well as lettering in football and baseball. He continued his education at Mercer University and Georgia College, playing baseball for both schools and graduating from Georgia College. After working in various positions, Mark retired from Grumman Aerospace/Vought/Triumph after 35 years. Mark was very active in his church, the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he served as treasurer, deacon, music director, and took every opportunity to “make a joyful noise unto the Lord.” Mark was a devout Christian, who was always willing to help anyone in need. He was a compassionate caregiver and found great pleasure in helping others.

One of Mark’s greatest legacies was his gift of music, which he loved sharing. Through his God-given talent, Mark was able to not only serve his Church, but to bring many people closer to the Lord with his music. Whether it was playing for large events, family get-togethers, or close friends, Mark used his gift and smile to bring everyone together in joy and celebration.

Survivors include his wife, Susan, whom he married in 1982; son, Adam (Ember) of Durham, North Carolina; brothers, Boyd (Karen) of Commerce, Ricky (Susan) of Statesboro, and Andy (Diana) of Rome. He is also survived by several loving in-laws, Jim (Sha) Collins of Savannah, Al (Cindy) Collins of Macon, and Kerry (Ann) Collins of Milledgeville. Especially dear to his heart were his nieces, nephews, church family, and many wonderful cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, P.O. Box 165, Sandersville, Georgia 31082.
