
Voters in the City of Sandersville have a reason to head to the polls on Tuesday, March 16 for the City’s Special Election.
The Special Election in the City of Sandersville will determine whether or not to allow package sales of malt beverages, wine, and distilled spirits by retailers on Sundays.
As previously reported by WACO 100, a county-wide referendum was passed last year by voters for the unincorporated areas of the County; this special election pertains specifically to the incorporated area of the City of Sandersville.
Only residents of the City of Sandersville will vote in this special election.
Advance/Early voting for this Special Election took place from Monday, February 22 through Friday, March 12. Voter turnout was low during Early voting.
Sandersville City Council adopted a resolution calling for the special election at their Tuesday, January 19 Council meeting.
The March 16 Special Election ballot will include the following question:
“Shall the governing authority of the City of Sandersville be authorized to permit and regulate package sales by retailers of malt beverages, wine, and distilled spirits on Sundays between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.? Yes/No?”
Polls will be open on Election Day, Tuesday, March 16, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
