The Washington County Ag Center Rodeo is returning next month on Friday, April 2 and Saturday, April 3.
Last year the rodeo was rescheduled three times, and ultimately canceled due to COVID-19.
“We are looking forward to getting back to normal and enjoying the Rodeo,” said Eddy Turner, Vice President of the Washington County Farm Bureau.
Turner explained that because the event is outdoors and open seating, they will not have any specific COVID restrictions. People will be free to move about at their own comfort. He added that masks are encouraged but are not mandated. In addition, there will be numerous hand washing and sanitizing stations at the event.
Hedrick Rodeo Company of Madisonville, Tennessee will produce this year’s rodeo; the Hedrick family (Danny and Jessica, and their children Justin and Emily) will celebrate 20 years in the rodeo business this year.
The Washington County Ag Center Rodeo is sanctioned by the International Professional Rodeo Association and the Southeastern Professional Rodeo Association. The sanctioned contest events for the Washington County Ag Center Rodeo include: bareback riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, barrel racing, team roping, and bull riding.
The Inaugural Ag Center Rodeo held in 2019 was well received in Washington County – an estimated 2,200 people attended the event.
Proceeds from the rodeo are used to maintain the Washington County Ag Center, promote Ag in the Community and Classroom and support 4-H and FFA.
“We are grateful to our many sponsors who have firmly supported us and this event even with all the delays,” said Turner.
Tickets for the Washington County Ag Center Rodeo are $15 for adults and $10 for youth at the gate. Children under the age of six years are admitted free of charge. Advance tickets are available at a reduced price at Smith Farm Supply.
Gates open on Friday and Saturday at 5:00 P.M. The Rodeo starts at 7:00 P.M. at the Washington County Ag Center located at 882 Grady Mertz Road in Tennille.
