The beautiful life of the lovable, friendly, and admirable, Mrs. Dorothy Louise Outlaw-Devero, ended as she accepted the Savior’s call on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Washington County Regional Medical Center. Graveside funeral services were held on Saturday, May 29 at 2:00 P.M. at the Burnett Grove AME Church with Reverend Minnie Pitts officiating.

She was the first born child to the late Mr. Eddie Rufus and the late Mrs. Ella Darrisaw-Outlaw on Thursday, December 23, 1937. At an early age, she joined the Burnett Grove AME Church, where she remained an active and faithful member until her health failed. In 1953, she was joined in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Climmie Devero. Mrs. Devero enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends. Most often she was the life of the party, blunt, and to the point. Her favorite quote was, “I said what I said.” She always enjoyed making others laugh.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Eddie Will Outlaw; sister, Ms. Annie Pearl Bardge; son-in-law, Mr. Claudie (Bobby) Martin; and daughters-in-law, Mrs. Virginia Devero and Mrs. Lavern Brown.

Mrs. Devero leaves cherished memories to six very special children, Ms. Janice Martin, Mr. Danny Devero, Mr. Donny (Brenda) Devero, Mr. Frankie Brown, and Mrs. Alisa (Glenn) Darrisaw all of Wrightsville, and Mrs. Arlene (Isaac) Bivens, Marietta; six sisters, Ms. Lila London, Ms. Melvia Outlaw, Ms. Linda Brannam, Ms. Brenda (Tony) Hood, and Ms. Angelus Outlaw all of Wrightsville, and Ms. Brennette Williams, Atlanta; two brothers, Mr. Thurnel (Annie) Outlaw and  Mr. Bruce (Robin) Graddy, Atlanta; sister-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Outlaw, Atlanta; nineteen (19) grandchildren; twenty-five (25) great-grandchildren; four (4) great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

“I did not choose to go away, but God told me I could not stay. He reached for me with loving care, now dry your eyes and remember me….for I am free.”
