The month of June is “Men’s Health Awareness Month.” Washington County Regional Medical Center’s Wellness Works will host the inaugural Men’s Health & Fitness Forum on Friday, June 25 beginning at 10 a.m.

According to Wesley Logue, who serves as Director of Wellness Works at Washington County Regional Medical Center, the forum begins with a panel style health forum featuring qualified healthcare professionals discussing various men’s health topics.

“The whole point of the Health & Fitness Forum is to promote quality information,” said Logue, noting that the Google recommendations aren’t always the right recommendations. He added, “We want to get the whole panel of qualified professionals to put out this information so that everybody has the right knowledge to use for themselves.”

The forum kicks off at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 25 in the Wellness Works Aerobics room.

“We want to encourage men to have better health because we want you here a long time,” said Washington County Regional Medical Center’s Marketing Manager Vickie Lane when discussing the forum on the June 8 Wind-down WACO show with Taylor Everett.

Following the forum, those in attendance will take part in a three-mile blue-out trail walk on the walking trail at Washington County Regional Medical Center.

According to Director of Wellness Wesley Logue, Men’s Health Awareness Month is designed to encourage men to take better care of themselves, which means focusing on the right, healthy eating habits, exercising, and disease prevention.

“The purpose of this month is to increase men’s awareness of preventable health problems, and to encourage actions to prevent these health problems such as early detection and routine doctor’s visits,” said Logue.
