Mrs. Frances “Sara” Anderson Brown, age 91, of Mt. Zion Road in Warthen, peacefully passed away at her home on Saturday, July 3, 2021. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, July 5th at 11:00 A.M. at the Bethlehem Baptist Church with burial in the Church Cemetery. Reverend Tim Powell and Reverend Dr. Anthony Baker will officiate. Pallbearers will be Bobby Anderson, Greg Anderson, Rogers Anderson, Shannon Anderson, Terry Anderson, Garyth Everett, and Andy Rasch. Mrs. Brown’s great-grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Brown was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the thirteenth child of the late John Anderson and the late Mary Sally Whitley Anderson. She graduated from the Sandersville High School, where she excelled in basketball. Mrs. Brown began her working career as a salesclerk for Perlings Department Store and Union Dry Goods prior to discovering a lifetime love of sewing and working as a seamstress for Royal Manufacturing. In the 1970’s, Mrs. Brown was instrumental in establishing her family’s restaurant businesses, Brown’s Barn in Warthen and Brown’s Restaurant in Sandersville. She was the backbone of these businesses and was well known for all her homemade desserts. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She loved sitting on her porch and picking up and shelling pecans in her yard. She is preceded in death by her son, Jodie Lamar Brown, and grandchildren, Joey Riner Brown and Dawn Marie Miles.

Survivors include her children, Phyllis B. Bussell and her husband Henry, Phil Brown Jr., Patti Brown Anderson and her husband Andy, and Michael Ray Brown all of Warthen; her daughter-in-law, Lynn Brown of Sandersville; grandchildren, Liz Ridgeway, Scott Bussell, Clay Bussell, Phil Brown III, Charlie Brown, Amber Anderson, Jessica Estill, Christopher Brown, Brianna Brown, and Jodie Brown; 18 great-grandchildren; and her caregivers, Mary Ann Bass, Dianne Johnson, and Altheia “Stick” Miles.

The family will be at the Brown residence on Mt. Zion Road and will greet friends on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the Bethlehem Baptist Church.
