An eleven-year-old juvenile was detained on Tuesday, July 6 on three counts of arson, according to Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran.

The charges are a result of a Park Avenue apartment fire that took place on Thursday, July 1 in Sandersville, and two fires at a mobile home that occurred on Sunday, July 4 on Highway 242 near Bartow.

Fortunately, no one was injured in these fires.

According to Washington County Sheriff Cochran, the eleven-year-old juvenile was detained in a State Juvenile Facility awaiting a hearing in Washington County Juvenile Court.

“I appreciate the cooperation between the Washington County firefighters, the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the collaboration of local law enforcement from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Sandersville Police Department with bringing this case to a resolution in a timely manner,” stated Sheriff Cochran.
