
Kason Anderson, age 31, of Sandersville, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021 in an Augusta Hospital. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, August 27th at 11:00 A.M. at the Hitchcock Barn on Old Savannah Road in Tennille. Reverend John Maynard will officiate. Pallbearers will be Matthew Anderson, Josh Ford, Chris Mitchell, Josh Phillips, Keaton Tapley, and Kyle Watkins. Honorary pallbearers will be officers of the Louisville Police Department and deputies of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. The family will receive friends following the service on Thursday at the Hitchcock Barn. Friends are welcome to pay their respects on Wednesday from 12:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville. The family will not be present.
Kason was born in Augusta and reared in Sandersville. He graduated from the Washington County High School in 2008. At an early age, Kason found a love of fishing and through the years became known as a master marksman. He graduated from East Georgia College with an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. During his tenure at East Georgia, Kason was a member of the Disc Golf team. He began his career in law enforcement with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office as a jailer prior to becoming a certified law officer and joining their road patrol. In his initial year with the Sheriff’s Office, he was awarded their “Rookie of the Year.” At the time of his passing, Kason was employed as a Police Officer by the City of Louisville. Kason committed his life to the service of others. He was a volunteer with the Sandersville Fire Department and was a Certified First Responder. Kason was a member of the Resurrection Church in Louisville and he was a member of the Tennille Masonic Lodge #256.
Kason is survived by his fiancé, Emily Thompson of Aiken, South Carolina; mother, Windy Anderson Brantley and her husband Richard; father, Harvey Welch and his wife Julie; siblings, Crystal Welch, Gabriel Anderson, Cameron Brantley, Nathan Brantley, Josh Welch and Jeremy Bennett; grandfather, Gary Anderson of Sandersville; uncle, Shannon Anderson and his wife Aimee; nieces, Violet Purvis and Hazel Purvis; and fiancé’s parents, Emily, Ken, and Karen Thompson of Aiken, South Carolina.
