A portion of Deepstep Road at Bluff Creek is temporarily closed to allow for pipe replacement underneath the roadway, according to the Washington County Road Department.

The section on Deepstep Road at Bluff Creek is located between Rachel’s Road and North Indian Trail Road. The temporary road closure is for approximately 30 days.

The Washington County Road Department has assigned a detour for local residents only on the north side of Deepstep Road during the closure.  Residents traveling west from Sandersville will begin the Deepstep Road detour by turning (right) onto North Indian Trail Road for 1.75 miles, then turning (left) onto Griffin Road for 0.65 mile, then turning (left) onto Hall Road for 1.0 mile intersecting back with Deepstep Road.

All other traffic routinely traveling between Baldwin and Washington Counties should find an alternate route during the temporary closure dates such as State Route 24 / Fall Line Freeway.

The road closure began on Monday, September 13, and is expected to continue through 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 13.

Road Closure Dates are subject to change on short notice due to issues caused by inclement weather or timely completion of work.
