DORIS MOYE GRIFFETH

Mrs. Doris Moye Griffeth, age 89, of Sandersville passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at the Washington County Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, September 17th at 2:00 P.M. at the Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery. Reverend Tony Mimbs and Reverend L.T. Logue will officiate. Pallbearers will be Pete Golden, Dennie McNeely, Eddie Moye, Bill Nelson, Alan Smith, and Jimmy Lee Strowbridge.

Mrs. Griffeth was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Charlie Pilcher Moye and the late Essie Mae Shurling Moye. She accepted Christ into her life and joined the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church of Tennille at the age of 12. Doris was a graduating member of the Tennille High School, Class of 1948, who then attended business school in Atlanta. Following collegiate graduation, she returned to Washington County and began a lengthy career with the Georgia Department of Transportation in Tennille from where she retired. Doris was also a member of the Georgia Department of Engineers Association. She was a faithful member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as the Worthy Grand Matron. Mrs. Griffeth and her husband, Milton, were long-time active and instrumental establishing members of Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church, where Doris served her church in numerous leadership roles throughout the years. She enjoyed gardening her flowers and dearly loved her family and friends. Mrs. Griffeth is preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Milton Griffeth.

Survivors include her children, Sabrina G. Ennis and her husband Dean of Sandersville and Brad Griffeth and his wife Serretta of Tennille; grandchildren, Charlton Boyd, Heather Williamson and her husband Lee, Kodi Wimberly and his wife Quan, Kaylee Cowart, and Eli Griffeth; eight grandchildren; and her beloved caregivers, Misty Marshall and Angela Hunter.

The family will be at the Griffeth residence on Park Avenue in Sandersville and they will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the May and Smith Funeral Home.
