Sandersville Man Arrested Following Complaints of Illegal Drug Activity

The Ocmulgee Drug Task Force and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested 49-year-old Ernest Johnson, Jr. of East McCarty Street in Sandersville on Thursday, September 23, following an investigation that stemmed from complaints of illegal drug activity.

According to Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran, Johnson was taken into custody on Thursday, September 23 after a search of his [Johnson’s] residence was conducted.

“The Washington County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate anyone suspected of dealing drugs in Washington County,” said Washington County Sheriff Cochran.

Ernest Johnson, Jr., 49, of Sandersville is charged with sale of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Also assisting with this investigation was the Georgia Department of Corrections’ K-9 Unit.

Washington County Sheriff Cochran stated that collaborating with the various agencies and with the community helps make Washington County a safer place to live. He went on to say that the Washington County Sheriff’s Office welcomes the assistance of the community through citizen tips on drug dealers.
