The Sandersville Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance to identify two individuals suspected of passing counterfeit checks at one of the local financial institutions in Washington County.

The Sandersville Police Department suspects these individuals to be part of a larger criminal organization.

“Checks, generally legitimate business checks, are stolen from the mail/mailboxes, then with today’s technology, the legitimate checks are duplicated with what appears to be accurate information printed on them; however, those checks are counterfeit,” reads a social media post from The Sandersville Police Department.

The public is encouraged to share the photos and information concerning the two individuals suspected of presenting counterfeit checks in Washington County, in order to assist with the identification process of the individuals.

Businesses and financial institutions are encouraged to be on the lookout for these individuals and potentially others attempting to pass counterfeit checks this holiday season.

Anyone with any information concerning the identity and/or location of the two individuals pictured, should contact The Sandersville Police Department at 478-552-3121 or 478-232-2628.
