One Seriously Injured in Highway 15 Motor Vehicle Accident

One individual was seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Georgia Highway 15 in Tennille on Monday, December 13.

According to the preliminary report from the Georgia State Patrol, Willie Irwin, 41, of McDonough was traveling southbound in a 2014 Chrysler 300 C on Georgia Highway 15 when he entered the northbound lane into the path of an oncoming vehicle while he attempted to pass southbound vehicles.

The front driver side of Irwin’s vehicle struck the front driver side of a 2015 Lexus IS 250 driven by an 18-year-old female from Richmond Hill.

The preliminary report indicates that after impact, Irwin’s vehicle rotated counterclockwise before coming to an uncontrolled stop in the center of the roadway.

The Lexus that was struck during the collision rotated clockwise, then exited the roadway onto the west shoulder of Georgia Highway 15.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, 41-year-old Willie Irwin of McDonough sustained serious injuries from this collision; he was transported to Atrium Health Navicent for treatment.

The preliminary investigation found several open beer containers inside Irwin’s vehicle, and around the vehicle at the scene of the collision.
