Mr. David Harold Meeks, age 83, of Tennille passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 20 in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is to follow in the Zeta Cemetery of Tennille with Masonic Rites. Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate. Pallbearers will be Gary Carter, Michael Cole, Michael Littleton, Bill McMaster, Stuart Turner, and James Watson.
Mr. Meeks was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the son of the late Zelna Thomas Meeks and the late Viola Epps Meeks. He was a retired Corrections Officer with the Georgia Department of Corrections, a former employee of McMaster Hardware of Tennille, and the former Owner of Meeks Chevron Station in Tennille. Harold was a member of the Ohoopee Baptist Church and the Tennille Masonic Lodge #256. Mr. Meeks was preceded in death by his siblings, John William Meeks, Sarah Frances Johnson, and Mary Evelyn Shelton.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen Guy Meeks of Tennille; daughter, Felicia Alva Meeks of North Carolina; stepdaughters, Sue Watson and husband James of Warrenton, Samantha Tompkins of Gibson, and Jennifer Sheley of Dublin; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville on Sunday, December 19 from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M.
