Sandersville City Council Approves Annual Appointments

Sandersville City Council voted on annual appointments for City staff at their Monday, December 20 City Council meeting.

“The way our City is structured, at this time we make annual appointments for staffing at a certain level,” explained Sandersville Mayor Pro-Tem Jeffery Smith.

During the Monday, December 20 Sandersville City Council meeting, Mayor Pro-Tem Smith read aloud the annual appointments as follows:

– City Administrator: Judy McCorkle
– Police Chief: Victor Cuyler
– Fire Chief: Elliott DeBiase
– Public Works Director: Robert Eubanks
– Electric Director: Bryan Long
– Finance Director: Brianna Wiley
– City Clerk: Kandice Hartley
– Community Development Director: Dave Larson
– Municipal Court Judge: Irwin B. Evans
– Municipal Court Solicitor and City Attorney: Keenan R. Howard

After hearing the recommendations, Councilperson Henry Watts moved to accept the annual appointments as presented; Councilperson Danny Brown seconded, and the vote carried unanimously by those present.

These one-year appointments are effective January 1, 2022.

In addition to City staffing appointments, the City Council also made appointments to the Sandersville’s Planning & Zoning Board, and the Sandersville Tree Board.

Trey Stewart was recommended for the vacant seat on the Sandersville Planning & Zoning Board. City Council approved Stewart’s appointment during their Monday, December 20 meeting. Councilperson Danny Brown explained that Stewart will fill the seat left vacant by the recent retirement of Eddie Moye. Stewart’s term runs from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2024.

Richey Burge was recommended to the Sandersville Tree Board. The Tree Board sought the City Council’s approval for Burge’s appointment following their Thursday, December 2 meeting. Sandersville City Council voted during their December 20 meeting to appoint Burge.
