Two juveniles are in custody following a shooting on Irwin Avenue outside Tennille, according to Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran.
Sheriff Cochran explained that deputies received a 911 call in the 500-block of Irwin Avenue outside Tennille on the evening of Saturday, January 15.
When deputies arrived, they discovered the victim, a 16-year-old male, with a gunshot wound to the back.
The victim was transported by emergency medical personnel to a trauma center.
Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies and Investigators contacted the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) to assist.
“We worked throughout the evening, following tips and leads that came from a very concerned community, which is credited with finding the persons responsible for this selfish, violent act” said Sheriff Cochran.
According to the Sheriff, two juveniles, ages 15 and 16, were taken into custody and charged in this shooting incident.
“The team of law enforcement officers working this case were able to confiscate the weapon allegedly used in this crime which had been reported stolen from a previous unrelated incident,” said Sheriff Cochran. He added, “This incident not only affects this victim and his family, it also affects many others as a result of this.”
Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran asked the public to join him in prayer for all involved and for the entire community.
