Mrs. Sandra Clark Burns, age 77, of Warthen passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the Washington County Regional Medical Center. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, January 31st at 11:00 A.M. in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service at the May & Smith Funeral Home.

Sandra was reared in Jenkins County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Elwood Lainer Clark and the late Sadie Raley Clark. She graduated from the Millen High School and would further her education by obtaining a collegiate business degree. Mrs. Burns began her working career in Sandersville at Washington Manufacturing before then beginning employment at Childre Chevrolet. Sandra would then move to Long Beach, North Carolina to work in law enforcement. She served her community as an Emergency Medical Technician, a dispatcher, and a Sergeant Road Officer. In 2001, Mrs. Burns returned to Washington County to be near family and manage H & R Block as a tax specialist. Sandra’s greatest joys in life included fishing, cooking, reading, and crossword puzzles. But, above all else, she cherished her family and pets.

Survivors include her children, Melissa Brown of Warthen and Blaine Byrd of Wilmington, North Carolina; grandchildren, Brianna Brown and her spouse Stephanie, Jodie Brown and her fiancé Heather, Braxton Byrd, and Carlos Turner; great-grandchildren, Hunter Marshall, Carmen Marshall, and Bentley Marshall-Brown; and her beloved dog, Baby Girl.
