Mr. Earl Steve Tanner, age 99, of Jones Road in Sandersville passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at his residence. A graveside funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, May 3, at 3:00 P.M. in the Brownwood Cemetery of Sandersville. Reverend Rick Freeman will officiate.
Mr. Tanner was born in Sandersville, the son of the late James Frank Tanner and the late Rose Killingsworth Tanner. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and spent his working career in electrical instrumentation for DuPont. Earl was described a meticulous gentleman, who enjoyed woodworking, gardening, listening to music, ballroom dancing, and tending to electronics. Mr. Tanner appreciated his fellowship with participants of the Wendy’s Coffee Club. He was a member of the Sandersville First Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Earl is preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Garrett Tanner; wife, Rachel Wood Tanner; and son, Myron Rodney Tanner.
Mr. Tanner is survived by his caregiving niece, Dena Brett (Mike) of Sandersville; caregiving great-niece, Toni Sanders (Clayton) of Sandersville; great-great-niece, Mia Sanders; great-great-nephew, Greyson Sanders; and adored caregivers, Linda Thomas and Chelecia Watts.
