Mrs. Geraldine Rowe “Gerri” Hargrove, age 71, of Sandersville passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at her residence following an extended illness. A graveside funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, May 11th at 1:30 P.M. in the Forest Lawn Cemetery of Savannah. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 10th from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in the May and Smith Funeral Home of Sandersville.

Gerri was born and reared in Savannah, the daughter of the late Ella McCullough Rowe and the late Ollie Mae Kirk Rowe. She graduated from the Savannah High School and furthered her education at Armstrong College. Mrs. Hargrove and her late husband, Richard Hargrove, Jr., spent their family rearing years in Denmark, South Carolina, Emanuel County, Georgia, and Sandersville, Georgia. Following her husband’s passing, Gerri completed her teaching degree at Georgia College & State University and started a career as an Elementary School Teacher for the Jefferson County Board of Education, where she would retire. She possessed a love of traveling and photography. Mrs. Hargrove enjoyed planting flowers and bird watching. Much of her joy was derived from reading books and listening to music. In addition to her parents and husband, Gerri is preceded in death by her son, Brian Daniel Hargrove; and brother, Fred Earl Rowe.

Survivors include her sons, Emmett Hargrove of Dacula and Michael Hargrove (Jessica) of Sandersville; grandchildren, Michael Hargrove, Jr. (Angel), Daniel Faith Robinson (Michael), Brianna Hargrove (Justin), Coleby Hargrove, and Natalie Hargrove; four great-grandchildren; and siblings, Ella Rowe Cochrane of Boston, Massachusetts and Lorine Rowe Lewis (Lonnie) of Tifton.
