
Mrs. Shirley Ann Smith Landry, age 70, of Sandersville, peacefully passed away on June 2, 2022, at her home following an extended illness. A celebration of her life will be held at the Sandersville Community Church on Sunday, June 5th at 3:00 P.M. with burial in the Zeta Cemetery of Tennille. Pastor Scott Ferguson and Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate. Pallbearers will Mrs. Landry’s nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 4th from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the May & Smith Funeral Home.
Shirley was a lifelong resident of Sandersville, the daughter of the late William Dudley and Frances Smith. She worked as a seamstress for various factories in Washington and surrounding counties. Mrs. Landry attended the Sandersville First Church of the Nazarene and the Sandersville Community Church. Shirley never met a stranger and made certain that no one ever left her home hungry. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Landry was a true outdoorswoman, who enjoyed cutting the grass of neighborhood homes, fishing, camping, and dancing. Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Landry; brother, Jule Dudley Smith; and nephew, Kenneth Waller.
Survivors include her daughters, Tina (Hugh) Adams of Sandersville and Mary Lou (Rodney) Meeks of Soperton; grandchildren, Spencer Adams of Sandersville, Harley (Dustin) Price of Sandersville, Eryn (Blake) Harris of Sandersville, Robyn Meeks of Milledgeville, Rebecca Meeks of Milledgeville, and Dusty Meeks of Soperton; great-grandson, Marshall Reed Harris; siblings, Charles (Margaret) Smith, William (Rosa) Smith, Mary (Mack) Boatright, Nora (Johnny) Rachels, Angie (Bob) Easterly, Chris (Linda) Smith, Mabel (Harvey) Jenkins, Schynell (Edward) Bragg, and Michael (Allison) Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
The family is located at the home of Hugh & Tina Adams on 4990 Georgia Highway 24 East in Sandersville.
