
Mr. James Herman Jackson, Jr., age 81, of Sandersville passed away on Tuesday July 12, 2022, at the Heritage Inn of Sandersville following an extended illness. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday July 15, in the New Bethel Cemetery near Riddleville. Reverend M.D. Cabe will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday following the graveside service in the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Jackson was a native of Washington County, the son of the late James Herman Jackson, Sr. and the late Grace Bedingfield Jackson. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. While stationed at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, James met and married the love of his life, the late Donna Jean Thomas Jackson, who he now reunites with in eternal Heaven. Mr. Jackson was regarded as an expert electronics technician following 60 years of employment for General Telephone and Verizon in Tampa, Florida. He was a member of the Temple Terrace Masonic Lodge #330.
Survivors include his son, James Allen Jackson of Brandon, Florida; brothers, H. Ronald Jackson and wife Betty of Riddleville, R. Wayne Jackson and wife Sandra of Riddleville, Henry P. Jackson and wife Joy of Riddleville, and Bruce Jackson and wife Edie of Sandersville; brother-in-law, Mike Thomas and wife Linda of Pensacola, Florida; sisters-in-law, Sharon Bowman and husband Jerry of Pell City, Alabama and Barbara Thomas of Brandon, Florida; niece, Tammy Thomas-Katrein and husband Keith of Brandon, Florida; nephew, Evan Thomas of Brandon, Florida and Bennie Thomas of North Carolina; and several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that donations be made to the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1829 New Bethel Road, Bartow, Georgia 30413.
