Mrs. Catherine Freeman Orr, age 89, of Tennille passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at her residence following an extended illness. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, December 30th at 11:00 A.M. in the Tennille United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Washington County Memorial Garden Cemetery of Sandersville. Reverend Danita Knowles and Reverend Jeff Cook will officiate. Pallbearers will be Marty Cullens, George Freeman, Jr., Steve Freeman, Scott Fuss, Erik Orr, and Glenn Watson. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of the service in the Church Social Hall.
Mrs. Orr was a native and lifelong resident of Tennille, the daughter of the late Lester Freeman and the late Ollie Ross Freeman. She was a graduate of the Tennille High School and attended Business School in Macon. Catherine began her working career as a Secretary for the Washington Manufacturing Company. Mrs. Orr was a homemaker for many years and retired from the Medical Offices of Dr. Marion Hurt. She was a wonderful woodworker and enjoyed making furniture for family and friends. Catherine was well-regarded as a great historian of the City of Tennille and delighted in passing along her wealth of knowledge.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Allen Orr of Tennille; sons, Allen Orr and wife Julie of Sandersville, Andy Orr of Tennille, and Tony Orr of Tennille; grandchildren, Erik Orr and wife Alicia of Dudley, A.J. Orr and wife Kelli of Houston, Texas, and Haley Orr of Sandersville; and great-grandchildren, Maddie Orr, Mac Orr, Jackson Tanner, Jada Orr, and Emerson Smith.
