Mrs. Carolyn Pate Sheppard, age 84, of Sandersville peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at the Washington County Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. A graveside funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, February 14th at 2:00 P.M. in the Davisboro City Cemetery with Reverend Stan Littleton officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
Mrs. Sheppard was born and reared in Davisboro, the daughter of the late William Wayne Pate and the late Valeria Moye Pate. She was a graduate of the Sandersville High School. While raising her children, Carolyn began a working career as a Secretary and Merchandiser for Rubbermaid in Atlanta before opening, owning, and operating Improvisions Beauty Spa. Mrs. Sheppard would relocate to Athens to be closer to family and work as a Real Estate Agent. She retired to Sandersville and became active in her community as a member of the Sandersville United Methodist Church, the Washington County Pilot Club, and the Sandersville Downtown Development Authority. Carolyn was known to enjoy the company of others while playing games of bridge.
Survivors include her children, William Lester Pate and wife Maria of Davisboro and Christy S Little and husband Andy of Greensboro; grandchildren, Pate McKenzie Sheppard and wife Brionna; Harper Sheppard, Blake Sheppard, and Raylan Sheppard; brother, Billy Pate and wife Judy of Davisboro; and sister-in-law, Vicki Pate of Florida.
