Mrs. Jane Saunders Pate, age 94, of Park Avenue in Sandersville passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at the Washington County Regional Medical Center Extended Care Facility. A graveside funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, February 23rd at 11:00 A.M. in the Davisboro City Cemetery. Reverend Dr. Stan Littleton will officiate. The family will greet friends following the graveside service in the cemetery.

Mrs. Pate was born and reared in Taylor County, the daughter of the late Thomas Saunders and the late Mattie Lou Byrd Saunders. Following graduation from high school, she attended the Georgia State College for Women and obtained a degree in Home Economics. Jane began her work as a School Teacher in Davisboro prior to career-long employment with the Georgia Department of Family and Children’s Services. In retirement, Mrs. Pate dedicated her time to the Washington County Regional Medical Center as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a longtime active member of the Sandersville United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday School and contributing to the United Methodist Women’s Group. Jane cherished attending her grandchildren’s events and her family’s gatherings. Mrs. Pate was regarded as a talented seamstress. She is predeceased by her husband, James Patrick “Pat” Pate Sr., and her son, James Patrick “Jim” Pate Jr.

Survivors include her daughter, Lynn P. Bonifay and husband Brannon of Sandersville; grandchildren, Cassie Faglier and husband Tracy, April Faglier and husband Stacy, Brandi McGoldric and husband Michael, and Andy Bonifay and wife Anna Kathrine; great-grandchildren, Jayna Prescott, Taylor Prescott, Liam McGoldric, and Brooks Bonifay; and daughter-in-law Deborah Pate.
