Mr. William Newman “Billy” Greenwood, age 81, of Kissimmee, Florida peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at the AdventHealth Lake Wales Medical Center of Florida following an extended illness. A graveside funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, May 5th at 2:00 P.M. in the Brownwood Cemetery of Sandersville. The family will greet friends on Friday from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. in the May and Smith Funeral Home of Sandersville.

Mr. Greenwood was born June 6, 1941, in the Rawlings Sanitarium of Sandersville, the son of the late Cecil Lewis Greenwood and the late Louise Turner Greenwood. He was a member of the final graduating class of the Sandersville High School in 1959 and a member of the Sandersville United Methodist Church. Billy attended St. Louis University and graduated from the University of Georgia Columbus Campus with a degree in Finance through his work in the railroad that paid for his education. Mr. Greenwood last worked for Florida East Coast Railroad as Vice President of Real Estate and Marketing for Railroad Property. He also owned a trucking company and attended camera shows as a Nikon dealer. Billy was an avid golfer and real estate investor. Mr. Greenwood had lived in Florida since the late 1960’s. He was well-regarded as a family-man, wonderful friend, and a faithful servant to the Lord.

Mr. Greenwood is survived by his wife, Peggy Greenwood; sister, Jenny Greenwood; sons, Patrick Greenwood and wife Sandi and Michael Greenwood and wife Susan; granddaughter, Lindsay Greenwood; niece, Cecelia Sheppard; nephews, Russell Sheppard and wife Kathy and Trevor Sheppard and wife Ramona; great-nephews and great-nieces, Anna Sheppard, Lauren Sheppard, Katie Sheppard, Ross Sheppard, and Justin Sheppard; cousins, Peggy Box, Markie Smith, Julie Fields, Frances Adams, and Kristina Lawlor; stepchildren, Jeff Moore and Melanie Clark; step-grandchildren, Dustin Clark, Breanna Moore, Nick Moore, and Hailey Parrish; and step-great-grandchildren, Isabelle Clark, Andrew Moore, and Carolina Rae Perry.
