Mr. Clarence Thomas Durden, age 76, of Sandersville passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, May 29th at 2:00 P.M. in the Sandersville First Church of The Nazarene with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery of Sandersville. Reverend Joe Crosby and Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 28th from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. in the May & Smith Funeral Home of Sandersville. Pallbearers will be Trevor Darsey, Ty Darsey, Chase Durden, Gayner Durden, Mitch Kersey, Tommy Logue, Cliff Wright, and John Wright.
Mr. Durden was born in Hancock County, the son of the late Gaynor Thomas Durden and the late Nancy Meeks Durden. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Clarence retired from Imerys as a Drill Operator and restored furniture as a woodworker in retirement. Mr. Durden was a faithful member of Sandersville First Church of the Nazarene. He most enjoyed spending time with his family. Clarence was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Emma Rose Marie Darsey, and brother, William Davis.
Mr. Durden is survived by his wife, Dianne M. Durden of Sandersville; children, Clint T. Durden and wife Dawn of Warthen, Debra Durden of Sandersville, and Katie D. Darsey and husband Alan of Sandersville; grandchildren, Chase T. Durden, Natalie Durden, Ty Darsey, Madelyn McQuaig, and Trevor Darsey; siblings, James H. Durden and wife Brenda and Carolyn Scott; and loyal pet companion, Sadie.
