Mrs. Anne Garrett Jones, age 88, of Riddleville passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, June 30th at 11:00 A.M. in the Riddleville Baptist Church with burial in the Riddleville Cemetery. Reverend Allen Wiggins and Reverend Wade Dawson will officiate. Pallbearers will be Austin Garrett, Justin Garrett, Scotty Garrett, Richard Jackson, Michael Leonard, Taylor Leonard, Todd Rackliff, and Craige Walker. The family will greet friends on Thursday, June 29th from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the May and Smith Funeral Home of Sandersville.
Mrs. Jones was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late William E. Garrett, Sr. and the late Edna Moye Garrett. She was a graduate of the Sandersville High School. Anne began her working career as a Receptionist at Dr. Osgood Bateman’s Veterinary Practice before employment in the medical offices of Dr. William Rawlings Sr. and Dr. Dean Holmes. Mrs. Jones retired following work as a Social Worker with the Department of Family and Children’s Services. She was a longtime active member of the Riddleville Baptist Church, serving as Church Secretary for over 20 years. Anne loved to travel, especially to the mountains, and most cherished time spent with her grandchildren. Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her husband, Willie D. Jones, Jr.
Survivors include her daughter, Billie Anne G. Thacker of Bluffton, South Carolina; grandchildren, Jo Marie Rackliff and husband Todd of Bluffton, South Carolina and Vickie Leigh Leonard and husband Michael of Greenville, South Carolina; great-grandchild, Taylor Michael Leonard; and sister, Jean Anderson and husband Marion of Sandersville.
