Mr. Charlie Doyle “Buddy” Sanders, Jr., age 76, of Tennille passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. A graveside funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, September 7th at 11:00 a.m. in the Zeta Cemetery of Tennille. Family and friends will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Jason Dye, Mark Ellington, Rex Wallace, Mike Daniels, Chatham Gunter, Randal Barnett, Wes McLeod, Joe Bush, and Easton Sanders. The family will receive friends following the service in the cemetery.

Mr. Sanders was a native and lifelong resident of Tennille, the son of the late Charlie Doyle Sanders, Sr. and the late Christine Smith Sanders. He attended elementary school in Tennille and graduated from the Washington County High School. Buddy then began his working career at Lapp Insulator before co-owning and operating H and S Package Store in Tennille. Mr. Sanders later worked a career in the Kaolin Industry, beginning with Anglo American Clays and retiring from Kamin as an Equipment Operator. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, and watching Georgia Bulldogs football. Buddy was regarded as great storyteller and poet, possessing a “way with words.”

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Johnson Sanders of Tennille; children, Kevin Sanders and wife Kelly of Toccoa, Kelly Sanders Irwin and husband Zach of Kennesaw, Clayton Sanders and wife Toni of Sandersville, and Shannon Brinson and wife Shannon of Bartow; grandchildren, Easton Sanders, Khloe Sanders, Ben Irwin, Blake Irwin, Mia Sanders, Greyson Sanders, Katie Daniels and husband Mike, Rex Wallace and fiancé Shanna Grant, and Kasey Brinson and fiancé Chatham Gunter; great-grandchildren, Jase Wallace, Mick Daniels, and Ivy James Wallace; and siblings, Carolyn Brantley and husband Bobby of Tennille, William Sanders and wife Tita of Harrison, and Cathy Woodard and husband Fred of Harrison.
