A heated workplace dispute has led to one man being arrested and another man hospitalized.

Just before 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran took to social media to request that motorists exercise caution if traveling north on Highway 102 outside of Warthen.

At the time, he stated that emergency personnel were en route to the 4000 block, responding to a report of a pedestrian potentially being struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, first responders rendered medical aid to the injured individual, as deputies with the Sheriff’s Office began piecing together the puzzling situation.

Following an on-site investigation, law enforcement determined that the previously assumed accident was actually a purposeful event.

According to an update by Sheriff Cochran before 8:00 p.m. last night, two coworkers were traveling on Highway 102 north of Warthen, just inside the Washington County limits, when a verbal altercation turned into a physical quarrel.

By the end of the brawl, one man was left outside of the vehicle while the other was sat behind the wheel.

Allegedly, Larry Brooks of Tennille used the two-ton truck to run over his coworker.

The 37-year-old was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, reckless conduct, battery, and reckless driving.

The unnamed victim was air lifted from the site and transported by helicopter to an out-of-area trauma center for treatment of his injuries.

No update has been provided on his physical condition.
