A house fire in the 13000 block of Georgia Highway 242 in Bartow is under investigation, according to Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran.
Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies and fire crews from several area fire departments responded to the residential structure fire on Sunday, July 4.
According to a Monday, July 5 social media post from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, fire crews were again dispatched to the residence around 11:30 a.m. on Monday morning.
“Deputies suspected foul play,” said Sheriff Cochran when discussing the fire on July 4.
The Georgia Fire Marshal’s Office was contacted regarding the fire.
According to Sheriff Cochran, Washington County Sheriff’s Investigators and State Fire Officials are investigating this as an act of arson.
No one was injured in the Sunday afternoon or Monday morning fires.
