
Mrs. Lille Wall Gilmore Tanner, age 86, of Sandersville gained her Heavenly angel wings on Friday, May 13, 2022, at the Washington County Extended Care Facility. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, May 15 at 4:00 P.M. in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Roger Hollie will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 15 from 3:00 P.M. until the hour of the service at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
Lillie was the daughter of the late Robert W. Gilmore, Sr. and the late Anna Reid Walker Gilmore. She enjoyed gospel music, dancing, and gardening. Mrs. Tanner was known by many for her cheerful smile, beaming personality, and for always having a joke or witty remark for any occasion. Lillie possessed a beautiful singing voice and was a member of the Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church Choir for many years. Above all, she was a devoted family member and friend. In addition to her parents, Lillie is preceded in death by her husband, Russell E. Tanner; siblings, Robert Gilmore, Jr., William W. “Popeye” Gilmore, John B. Gilmore, May Gilmore, and Martha G. Eskew; and nephews, Greg Gilmore and Rick Gilmore.
Mrs. Tanner is survived by her sister, Betty G. Godowns of Sandersville; nieces, Donna G. Turner (Paul) of Tennille, Pam G. Frederick of Sandersville, Lisa Taylor (Michael) of Sandersville, Fran Todd (Steve) of Guyton, and Susan Gilmore of California; nephews, Bobby Gilmore of Australia and Mike Gilmore of California; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great-nephews.
The family will be at the home of Donna and Paul Turner, 21 Club Forest Drive, Tennille, Georgia 31089.
