Kelly Sue Simpson Pernell, age 59, of Kite passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, in an Augusta area hospital following a brief illness. A graveside funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, April 15th at 11:00 A.M. in the Riddleville Cemetery. Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate. The family will greet friends at graveside following the service.
Mrs. Pernell was reared in Riddleville, the daughter of the late Eugene Simpson and the late Frances Crooms Simpson. She was a graduate of the Washington County High School. Kelly Sue began work at McDonalds prior to employment with the Washington Regional Medical Center and an elongated career as a Bus Driver with the Washington County Board of Education. Mrs. Pernell enjoyed fishing, travelling to the beach, and spending quality time with her family. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Faye Simpson Bussell and Ann Simpson; and nephew, Sammy “Peanut” Bussell.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Shane Pernell of Kite; daughter, Amber Orce Wilcher and husband Steven of Wrightsville; grandchildren, Alisa Wilcher, Ryan Wilcher, and Eden Wilcher; and siblings, Kay Simpson Chandler and husband John of Harrison and Danny Simpson and wife Carole of Sandersville.
The family may be visited at the home of Kay and John Chandler on West Twin Lane in Harrison.
