Jessie Mae Armstrong, age 73, peacefully passed away in her home on February 29, 2020. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 11 a.m. at St. Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in the Typee Community with interment in the Sandersville City Cemetery. Rev. Loretta Middleton will officiate.
She was born April 7, 1946 to the parentage of Oscar Jones, Sr. and Essie Mae Wiley Reaves. She attended the public school system of Washington County. She was a member of St. Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. She was married to James Armstrong. Jessie Mae was preceded in death by her son, Earl Armstrong.
Jessie Mae is survived by her children: Melissa (Willie) Whigham and Frederick Armstrong; 3 grandchildren, Frederick Armstrong Jr, Shirley Nicole Armstrong and LaShaundra Whigham; her mother and stepfather, Essie Mae (Albert) Reaves of Tampa, FL; siblings: Annie Carol Cordy of Perry, GA, Shirley Jones, Regina Jones, Luther (Kembo) Jones, and Randy Jones of Tennille, GA, Ricky (Deborah) Jones of Davisboro, GA, Lorean Reaves and Dennis (Meleverine) Reaves of Brandon, FL, Pamela (Wayne) McPherson of Riverview, FL; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Public visitation at L.M. Pierce Funeral Home on Friday, March 6, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Family is receiving friends at 214 Cypress Street, Sandersville, Georgia.
