Mrs. Jenny Lou Bowen Jackson, age 85, of Riddleville, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at University Hospital in Augusta following an extended illness. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Monday, March 22nd at 11:00 A.M. at the New Bethel Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Reverend Marty Deal, Reverend M.D. Cabe, and Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate. Pallbearers will be John Dalton, Keith Jones, Cody Cabe, Dillon Frost, Chance Jackson, and Randy Jackson.

Mrs. Jackson was born in Jefferson County and reared in Washington County, the daughter of the late Gainor James Bowen and the late Ruby Lee Bowles Bowen. She graduated from the Sandersville High School. Apart from the time spent away with her late husband in the military, she made her home in Riddleville as a homemaker. Mrs. Jackson formerly worked as a seamstress for Royal Manufacturing and Apparel Craft. She was a longtime member of the New Bethel Baptist Church, where she participated in the Woman’s Missionary Union and worked with preschool children in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Mrs. Jackson loved working in her garden, fishing, and cooking for her family.  She is predeceased by her husband, Wilmer Gene Jackson, Sr. and her sisters, Betty B. Waters and Mildred B. Harbuck.

Survivors include her children, Kathy J. Brooks and her husband James of Sandersville and Gene Jackson, Jr. and his wife Cindy of Riddleville; grandchildren, Kyle Brooks and his wife Meagan, Ethan Jackson and his wife Tatum, Kaitlyn Brooks, and Amanda Jackson; great-grandchildren, Betsy Kate Brooks and Maggie Lou Brooks; and brother, James Bowen of Tennille.
