Mr. Willie Rabun Horton, age 81, of Sandersville, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, April 23rd at 2:00 P.M. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Reverend Tony Mimbs will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Mr. Horton’s grandsons.

Mr. Horton was born in Wilkinson County and reared in Washington County, the son of the late Henry Grady “H.G.” Horton and the late Alice Jackson Horton. He attended the Sandersville High School prior to proudly serving his country in the United States Marine Corps. Rabun began his working career in the insurance field prior to a long career in the Kaolin Industry, retiring from Georgia Kaolin as a laboratory technician. Mr. Horton was also a bi-vocational minister serving White Oak Methodist Church, Bethesda Christian Church, Tennille Baptist Church, among others. He was instrumental in forming the Hope Chapel Christian Church and Academy and was a member of Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church. Rabun possessed a lifetime love of music, playing the guitar and piano and singing gospel hymns. Some of his favorite hobbies were playing golf, fishing, hunting, farming, and being outdoors.

Survivors include his loving wife, Martha Todd Horton of Sandersville; children, Anthony Todd Horton and his wife Gail, Sherri Horton Smith and her boyfriend David Watkins all of Sandersville, and Sandra Horton Margo and her husband Tom of Lake Wylie, South Carolina; and grandchildren, Richard Chad Horton, Brandon Keith Smith and his girlfriend Brianna Dent, Carl Rabun Spell and his girlfriend Jennifer Ennis, Cameron Corey Spell and his girlfriend Grace Finley, and Nicholas Carper Margo and his girlfriend Hannah Finlon.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
