COVID-19 Vaccines Available in Washington and Surrounding Counties

If you’re in need of a COVID-19 vaccine, there are several options in Washington County, as well as in neighboring counties.

Community Health Care Systems is offering the Moderna vaccine to all adults 18 years of age and older.

The vaccine schedule for the month of May for Community Health Care Systems in Washington County include:

– Wednesday, May 5 from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at their office located at 116 Smith Street in Tennille
– Wednesday, May 26 from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at their office located at 116 Smith Street in Tennille. This date will be for second doses only.

Community Health Care Systems also has scheduling available in neighboring Johnson and Hancock Counties during the month of May; those dates include:

– Tuesday, May 4 from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at their office located at 2251 West Elm Street in Wrightsville. To schedule an appointment at the Wrightsville office of Community Health Care Systems, call 478-864-2600.
– Tuesday, May 18 from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at their office located at 10571 Highway 15 North in Sparta. To schedule an appointment at the Sparta office of Community Health Care Systems, call 706-444-5241.

As previously reported by WACO 100, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp announced on Tuesday, March 23 that all adults in Georgia over the age of 16 will be eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine beginning Thursday, March 25.

Adolescents (ages 16 and 17) seeking the COVID-19 vaccine are eligible for the Pfizer vaccine.

The state operated mass vaccination site opened in Washington County on Wednesday, March 17. The mass vaccination site is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Word of Life Church, located at 1214 South Harris Street in Sandersville; this site offers the single dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine to drive-up customers. The state operated mass vaccination sites are scheduled to close on May 21.

With the Georgia Department of Public Health’s North Central Health District, eligible individuals can schedule appointments to receive the COVID-19 vaccine through public health by calling 478-749-0179 or 1-844-987-0099.  Scheduling at the North Central Health District is for Georgian’s 18 years of age and older. The 13-site health district can only vaccinate age 18 and older due to the district’s use of Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines. Appointments are based on vaccine supply.
