The City of Davisboro’s Independence Day Celebration is back and bigger than ever.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City’s 2020 Independence Day celebration was canceled; but the festivities are scheduled to return this weekend!

Events kick-off at 11 a.m. with a variety of foods fit for a celebration served by the Davisboro Volunteer Fire Department. According to David Cobb of the Davisboro Independence Day Celebration Committee, the menu consists of BBQ pulled pork, BBQ chicken, hamburgers, and hotdogs.

By 3 p.m. vendors will setup to serve sno-cones, lemonade, and various food items throughout the afternoon, and well into the evening. Carter’s Rock-N-Rides will have inflatable bouncy houses and slides for children to enjoy, as well.

Live entertainment featuring Subject 2 Change and the Gospel Tones will take place Saturday afternoon. The Sandersville Line Dancers are also scheduled to perform.

This year’s fireworks display will begin at dark in the skies over Davisboro. According to Davisboro Independence Day Celebration Committiee member David Cobb, this year’s display is expected to be the biggest show to date.

Cobb stated that because the celebration was canceled last year, they were able to combine resources to enhance the fireworks display for 2021.

The fireworks display is created and executed each year by dedicated men and women of the Davisboro Volunteer Fire Department.

“We look forward to the fireworks display, which is recognized as one of the finest in the middle-Georgia area, as we promote the beauty of our community,” said Cobb.

The Davisboro Independence Day Celebration is open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to attend the festivities on Saturday, June 26.
